Game Guide: Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
made by: Spike Chunsoft

Good day everyone, this guide is not much of a walkthrough as that would have major spoilers but this serves as a small tips and tricks guide to those who haven't tried yet.

This will also focus on the steam version.

The cast of Danganronpa

Here they are, No, I won't introduce them. This scene is pretty much around the beginning of the game so you'll know each and everyone of them soon. For now take a look at their individual designs and appreciate the efforts made into making each and everyone unique.

The game explains this but here are some shortcut keys that would be quite helpful.

Esc  - Opens the System Help

F1   - Opens your handbook (menu)

F2   - Opens the transcript (chat log) so you can back read anything you might have missed.

RCtrl - Fast forward text, this will forward the dialogues and all text, very useful if you're repeating read content

Here are some other in-game shortcuts:

Controls

Extra Menu
Here you can spend your hard earned monocoins or view content you already unlocked.

You can gain monocoins throughout the game, explore every nook and cranny to find them or finish a class trial with high scores.

Event Gallery - Purchase and view all the story cinematic graphics you saw, this won't show things you haven't seen yet in-game.

Movie Gallery - Basically the same as the event gallery except it has all the movies played in the story.

Artwork Gallery - This is where character concept art and sketches belong, you unlock its content for viewing after finishing the game.

Sound Gallery - Let's you hear all the soundtracks you have already heard. I find it amusing each character silhouette has a corresponding earphone design.

School Store - Probably would be the most visited option every time you finish a trial. It functions the same way as the store in-game but this is directly the gacha, you need the items for gifts in free time mode.

 School Store Gacha

This is pretty straight forward, drop a coin and out comes a capsule that has an item inside. The item would be directly sent to you inventory which you can gift later during free time events.

Every time you get a new unique item, the repeat increases a slight percentage, so the more unique items you have unlocked the higher the chance you get an item you already own.
Now, to have a better chance on getting newer stuff, you should drop more coins. The more coins you drop the lower the repeat rate becomes.

In some cases you might also get "Lucky" which is another gacha roll after your first one. Lucky also stacks as experienced by me that I got 2 Lucky in a row.

Opening the menu

The menu is such an important aspect of the game that it deserves to be used and abuse all the time.

In-Game Menu

It displays everything you need to know once you open it.
  • Total Monocoins (To keep track of all your coins)
  • Map (Which you can use to fast travel at certain points or look for specific characters)
  • Truth Bullets (To review all evidences you find)
  • Presents (Where you can view all the presents you gained from the gacha / school store)
  • Regulations (The school regulations, you can review these anytime you like)
  • System (This is where "Save","Load","Return to menu" are located at)
Remember to save often and keep multiple saves if possible, you don't want to accidentally do something you might regret.

You can also save in-between class trials by still hitting the F1 button, a few sentences before a mini-game breaks out and the moment where you complete a mini-game. This is very important if you are aiming for a safe no damage, no concentration, no replay play through.

Thank you for reading through this guide, which is more of a quality of life thing since any actual guide would probably ruin the whole experience and let me tell you this. The whole experience is so worth it. Hope you enjoyed reading and good luck with playing the game.
