Game Guide: MARVEL Spider-Man Unlimited

MARVEL Spider-Man Unlimited
Version 4.5.1B

A Guide on How to become a Spider-man!

If you are reading this then that means you played and is about to play one of Gameloft's and Marvel's game, Spider-Man Unlimited! this guide will help you throughout on what to invest on and things to do.

This guide covers the latest update which is Version 4.5.1B

1. Starting Out!

  • Just follow the tutorial, get comfy with the controls and Nick will explain everything you need to know about the basics here.
  • During this time the revives are free courtesy of S.H.E.I.L.D so feel free to get the hang of the controls
2. Spider-Men

You probably noticed that the only way to increase your Spider Power is by getting new unique spideys or ranking up your existing ones. The spideys are seperated by Rarity which are
  • Common                (Black Border)
  • Uncommon            (Green Border)
  • Rare                       (Blue Border)
  • Epic                       (Purple Border)
  • Legendary             (Yellow Border)
  • Titan                      (Cyan Border)
  • Infinite                   (Orange Border)
All except Infinite are easily obtainable with some exemptions such as limited timed events and newly released for Titan rarity.

Infinite can be obtained upon gather 1000 fragments of the same kind (Example Below)

Also rarities determine how many ranks can that spider-man gain, from 3 Stars for common and 10 Stars for Infinite

3. Ranking Up Spider-Men

For those who have a background on Gacha games, this is one of them albeit much more generous than known titles, Ranking up in Spider-man Unlimited is done by using up your extra spider-men fragments which you can get by Recruiting a spider-man you already own, the extra spider-men will then be converted to fragments

With every rank up of a spidey, their Spider Power also increases, and a higher spider power means more score multipliers!

IMPORTANT NOTE!!!
Upon reaching a certain spidey power threshold you'll achieve a tier upgrade, while this will give you new access to portals and spideys, do note, it will also reset your Reinforcement Portal to make the most of it, Try to time your Tier up, when you just recently gotten your Reinforcement Portal.

4. Power Ups / Boosters

Throughout your game you will probably get these items which will power your runs or strengthen your spideys here are some of them.

  • RANK UP STAR

IMPORTANT NOTE! SAVE THIS!
Really you should, these are hard to come by and can help you greatly, I suggest keeping at least 10 of these in case you earn your 1st (or favorite) Infinite Spidey, they are hard to come by and maxing them out greatly helps in your daily events as seen below

(Look at that! Wow!)
I got lucky and got this guy right here, poured my Rank up stars on this spidey here and voila! instant access to all three skills and even helps me with events even without the Featured Spidey Multiplier.

Use your stars for these, and if for some reason you have more you can spend them in other spideys whose fragments you just can't seem to get.

Remember to check out your spidey's skills, some are quite good especially if you need some precision ring combos or near miss combos, their skills also stack with other multipliers.

  • ALLIANCE ENERGY REFILL

This here little thing is useful during Alliance Battleground events and is probably the only place to use them as of this moment. It's quite straight forward, it refills 1 point of energy for alliance battles.

If you're an active alliance member you could use and abuse these for a chance to gain more points and win.

  • SUPER SCORE

Super Score is one of the three boosters you can use during your run, they only work on that spidey and not on others unless their skill states otherwise. This one can be extremely useful to increase your score multiplier especially in events with "Get the highest score!" in them. Use them if you're confident as these are quite hard to come by.

  • VIAL STYLE

Vial Style is the other boosters you can use during your run, pretty straight forward description there. 2x Multiplier on vials after defeating an enemy, pretty useful in events and runs with "Collect the most vials!" or if you just want to farm vials for portal summons or ranking up spideys.

  • CRUSHING COMBO

Crushing Combos is the last booster you can use during your run, it is also a personal favorite because it increases combos and works with all combos, Near-miss, Precision, Enemy, you name it! This will greatly help especially in events with "Get the most combos" and is even a better multiplier with "Get the highest score!" especially when used in tandem with "Super Score" these are also fairly easy to get, most of the time this can be a reward in doing spidey-ops issue 2 along with "Vial Style"

  • POWER UPS

These are permanent boosts to your runs, They cost a great deal of vials and their later upgrades cost ISO-8 but they are permanent and will greatly help you when you pick these up.

They are pretty much self explanatory, choose what you want to upgrade first the first four are duration bonuses which can extend your pick up boosts for up to 30 seconds and the last one is a permanent vial bonus that will increase your run vials.

5. In-Game Currencies

Currently there are only 2 types of in-game currency used and these are Vials and ISO-8

Vials are used for non-premium portals, ranking up spideys, upgrading the power-ups

You can get vials during your runs, spidey-ops and even as event rewards, just play and in time you'll notice them piling up

ISO-8 is the premium currency for this game and can also be bought with real money for those interested. You can use ISO-8 to buy vials, premium and event portals, reviving during your run. (This gets expensive for each revive) , recovering energy for your spideys.

ISO-8 can be gotten from events, sometimes gold variations of enemies in your run, and for finishing the story. You can also buy them using real money.

6. Events

These are limited timed events in which you can get portals, ISO-8, vials and other goodies

These are the different events available each with their own way of scoring your runs.
Here's a list of what you'll see

    • Alliance Battleground    (Alliance Event)
    • Themed Event                (Daily Event)
    • Locked by Spideys         (Needs a certain Spidey on your team to play)
    • Story Event                     (The current update, promotional event)
    • Power Event                    (Total Spidey power event)
    • Holiday Event                 (Similar to Story events)
There is also something called a Special Event, which is usually the Symbiote World, it follows the story format of progression but with high standards (Defeat 35 enemies, get 8 million points, get 15 millions points, etc)

The events follow a very basic format.

There are two ways to score your run, Total/Best Run Event and Progression Event

Progression Event:  This is where the milestone reward comes in, our goal is to do whatever mentioned here to earn points toward the milestone reward. Even if you're not aiming to be first in the leaderboards, getting all the milestone rewards helps you in the long run, since most of the time by completing it you will gain vials, ISO-8, boosters and even portals

Total/Best Run Event : wording does a difference here, remember if its Total, its a tally of all your runs, meaning it carries over and you can eventually get to the top with enough runs. Best run event is whatever you get during your run, your score will overwrite if your future runs are better than what you have recorded. This is the score the event will take for the leaderboards, do your best to win!

IMPORTANT NOTE!!
If you noticed above in the pic, it says Rank rewards and opponents are determined by your spidey tier, the higher the tier the better the rewards but also the harder the opponents.

Buffed Spideys

Doing an event and noticed how did your opponent get 5000 slides when you can barely get 300 in one run? or how did he get 1 million points and you had to revive 5 times just for 300k points? The answer, Buffed Spideys!

These are special spideys that when put on your team, they will grant an extra multiplier bonus and they stack to your spidey's skills and boosters!

It's an additive multiplier, so that totals to x12 to your run if these guys are on your team! If your goal is to beat flying enemies, instead of getting 1 point for 1 flying enemy, now you get 12 points! doesn't that make it faster and easier?

You can get buffed spideys from the portal and the game is generous enough to offer you a premium portal in which you have a chance to get the buffed spidey.

PRO TIP!!
In case you lack the spideys, check your other spideys, they might have the skill needed to boost your runs even if they're not buffed, check if they get +1 to precision rings, or offer a +2 to near miss combos, they stack just make sure they're your active spidey. Buffed spideys can be left in the 2nd till the last slot just for their multipliers, their skills won't activate but their multipliers will!

7. END

That's all for now and hopefully this simple guide helped. I'll try to add more things in the future.
Thank you for reading till the end.
