Influence of games to people, is it good or bad?

Games have become part of our lives. Each and every one of us have at least one game we play may it be on the way to school or work, to pass time, while waiting for someone and in some occasions for a living. So how did games influence us? was it for the better or for the worse? Of course it was for the better, as proven by some studies and articles that people who plays games have a higher chance of making better critical decisions in life. Some also states that it improves reaction times, attentive ability and overall improve the state of the player. Now how did these articles and facts came to be? Well of course by playing games and experimentation. Just by doing that we can see the influence of games are more inclined to being good as it makes the players informed in some aspects.

Most parents have a mindset that games are not good for their children because it hinders in their education which could lead to a bad future with no educational attainment. This is because games are very graphic, they show very explicit scenes to get their stories and goals across to the players. Usually there's proper build up and warnings before such scenes appear on screen but usually when parents check up on their kids, they just pass by and see the explicit material from which they define that the game their child is playing is not helpful to them. Of course it is not the games fault their kids play them, usually the selection of games are based on what's new or interesting  and even just based on the cover or synopsis that buyers forget to check the rating and expose the players to such matters they probably can’t comprehend yet. Yet if you try to understand these games fully, you will notice that they actually have some hidden aesthetics that not just give education background to the player but as well as provide a fun filled exciting experience.

Games distort the reality of the players, while some studies show that some games does distort the reality of its players, the reason for this is because they use such games as a means to escape reality and indulge themselves in the world of the game. They might have been bullied, physically abused, shunned by society or emotionally hurt which makes them attracted to a specific game that can provide them with a world without one of the factors that give them negativity and despair. Whilst distorting the reality of the player is caused by the game it is by no means the games fault. If we point fingers here it should be the society in which to blame. Games are just there for comfort, relaxation and to forget all worries for the rest of your days or until you find something worth doing better or the game ends.

Violent video games influence aggressive behavior in kids, while this is true that video games will affect the children more and make them prone to violent behavior it is by no means the games fault the reason for this being that there were proper labels and ratings for that specific game that warns the buyers and future players that it may contain violence and other mature rated tags. It is up to the discretion of the buyer, mostly unknowing parents giving game gifts to their kids, to properly check up the ratings and give guidance to the player who in this case are their kids. In response to this as well, parents should expose their children to more social inducing games and educational ones before proceeding to any violent games so that the player would develop a foundation to discern what should be and how it would affect others.

When your child plays video games, it gives his brain a real workout. Now that’s from an article that describes how video games give out good influences to children. If you would try and play some casual games directed at children or even the casual audience, you would notice that even with the simplicity of the mechanics and art, it would still be able to get you hooked in for hours and hours just to finish at least one stage with a perfect score, that is because it provides a challenge and forces our brains to become more active to solve such puzzles and gain high amounts of scores. These abstract high level amount of thinking which is available in games can provide the players skills that can not be taught in school or classes as stated by the article. This proves that games even as a casual hobby of ours, can be used to exercise our brains to think more and practice them. Most notable examples of some games that teach this to us are Sudoku, Crossword Puzzles and even some video games like Cut the rope and Candy Crush.
In light of this topic, I conclude that games have been a good influence to us, due to it being educational, enlightening and even serves as a means to relax and gives us a small little reality we want to go to even for just a few minutes of our time. Even if there are some drawbacks to games, they can be dealt with, with proper care and guidance. To people who still think games are just a waste of time, I personally suggest you at least try some games before commenting and maybe you might get hooked, if not well at least you tried. Games are just like any other, too much can be bad but its provides you with something that can make your time worthwhile.
